Since its founding in 1934, the National Society of Professional Engineers, as well as its state societies, members, and the professional engineering community, have sought to strengthen PE licensure laws and regulations for the protection of the public health and safety and to permit licensed professional engineers to practice in a manner consistent with that objective.

 

In the years since the enactment of state and territorial professional engineering licensure laws and regulation, state legislatures have enacted provisions to periodically review (“sunset review”) and in some cases restrict or even take steps to eliminate these laws and regulations.

 

The following compilation of sunset review information about the boards that are affected has been developed by NSPE to detail the breadth and scope of these regulations nationwide.
